Dingy Engine Repair, Shoes, Clothes, Cute Kids & Coconuts!

November 11, 2010

These are more pictures from Jeh Island.  This is the day that we went around and gave out grab bags that had shoes in them since I couldn't figure out a fairer way to give away the shoes.  There some nice shoes in there too - good condition sneakers and flip flops, brand new flip flops, and even some like new Keen shoes for boys.  We also brought in the kids clothes to try and get the kids we hadn't reached previously.  Again, the smiles on these faces brought to you by the people of Kwajalein.

Note: I am not posting a picture of every child because because I have a dial-up connection. Sorry!
I laid out all the shoes to divide them evenly between the grab bags - there were all kinds of shoes.  You can see the coconuts we were gifted by the islanders.  I only wish we could have shared them with all the people who donated things for the outer islands.  They were yummy!

Paul and TC work hard to get the dinghy engine repaired.  Paddling the dinghy is no joke, especially not if it was going to transport 6 of us soon.  We expected Geoff, Elli, and Timo to arrive that day.

Tialine and Ikaika striking a pose.

This is Smetty (sorry about the butchering of the spelling of your name, little guy).  Isn't he adorable?

Winnie with her stylish new clothes.

This is one of Tommy's (Paul's fishing buddy) daughers.

My jumping off the boat buddy, Maline.

Marshallena looking like a model.

Cheerful Thomas - he's Beethleen's twin.

Miriam and Auntie's brother.

Jason - the one with great English skills - and his new shirt.

Tialine looks up mischeviously while Sullivan looks at her skeptically.

Kicking around the soccer ball in my sweet Marshallese dress.

This little guy couldn't wait to wear his new shirt.  He wore it tag and all!

Rosebella (in the outfit she received the day before) and Beethleen enjoy a coconut.  In the outer islands, the eating habits seem healthier probably because there isn't much other choice.
While we were on shore, we heard that the plane was cancelled for the day.  Luckily, that meant the dinghy was fixed and ready to pick up our guests the next day.
