Modeling in Majuro

Another memory to add to our trip – getting into the local paper, The Marshall Islands Journal.  This paper used to sell shirts that read: “The Marshall Islands Journal: The World’s Worst Newspaper.”

The main reason I am in the paper, though, is a friend (another yachtie) is on staff there. 

I make sure to buy the paper every week, though.  I know newspapers are going out of business left and right, but it is so much nicer to spread the paper out on the table and read it rather than scrolling along a web page.  It doesn’t hurt my eyes as much either.

Kwaj was talked about in the paper two weeks ago.  Although, I am pretty sure that instead of USAKA it should have been KRS and it should have read “laid off” instead of “fired.”  I have to go in and get this week’s paper later today.

This last week’s paper had Paul on the front cover.  He is better modeling material apparently.  That and it is quite an action shot. 

Then Paul got his picture in the paper again.  If you can’t read the caption, it says, “Above: Team Kwajalein Texas’s Paul McGrew, Robert Basurto, and Curtis Childress pose with Miss All Mike, their fish and Marilyn the tag-and-release marlin.  Moments before this photo was taken, Paul inadvertently bopped Miss All Mike on the head with Marilyn’s tail (he apologizes).”  

There were also other Kwaj teams in the paper.
