After saying good-bye to T-Jar and taking a few more pictures with our jumping friends, we headed out across the lagoon to the southwest pass. There were a couple big coral heads that we dodged. There was barely any wind, so we motored the whole way, which made dodging the coral heads easier.
We went through the channel - which is gorgeous. The pictures don't do it justice. Pull up Jaluit on Google Earth and zoom in on the southwest pass (near Mejiruriku or Elizabeth Island). It's like a deep blue river with islands and shallower waters of a variety of blues and greens.
Then we came and anchored. We couldn't wait to get in the water. Paul jumped on a kayak. TC swam. I got to use the stand-up paddleboard. Finally! TC and I found a beautiful blue starfish, as well as a jellyfish that looked pretty dangerous, but was a stunning shade of purple with a few little fish swimming along with it.
Morale is high as we are all enjoying the amazing new sights and looking forward to a lot of time in the water.
Update on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 - I am a bit behind in these posts, but the past two days have been great (although no surf). More details to come.
