Back on Kwaj again

Happy Birthday, Cheryle!  I forgot to mention that to celebrate Cheryle's birthday, her husband Gary had brought along 6 pounds of crab.  We had a feast on Cherokee that night.  Crab prepared three different ways (boiled plain, boiled with Cajun seasoning, and baked), garlic bread, corn, and cherry-pineapple birthday cake.  We sat on the port stern side of Cherokee under the bimini, in case it rained, which made it easy to get rid of our crab shells.  We just tossed them off the side and back.

During our crab feast.  Thanks for having a birthday, Cheryle!

We awoke early in the morning to discover that the winds had not shifted.  They were still coming from the southeast, which is basically the direction that we wanted to go and therefore not good for sailing.  We figured we would sail all day, and then anchor at Bigej late at night.

It was nice that we could actually sail since before this we had mainly motored due to light or no winds.  (Of course, the boys like it when there is no wind when it comes to surfing.)  Throughout the day, the winds shifted as fronts came and went.

What also continued throughout the day was that we were catching fish!  Now, we still had plenty of ono left from our trip on the way up, but we started adding to it with all the dogtooth that we were catching.  It got to be kind of humorous.  TC and I would sit and watch the depthfinder, we'd see the ocean floor rise up to about 90 or 60 feet.  One of us would say, "I bet that we get a fish," and sure enough we did.  In all, we caught 4 BIG dogtooth tuna.  Yum!

However, all the fish and not enough fridge space or ice changed our plans.  We decided we'd better head back to Kwaj so we could get the fish on ice.  We were able to keep it cool (had some ice left and using the rest of the fridge), but fish is always better on ice, right?

We arrived back to Kwaj around 5:00 PM.  I was sad that our trip ended a day earlier without a nice relaxing overnight at Bigej, but I won't lie.  Part of me was totally excited for a long hot shower and sleeping in AC.  Plus coming back a day early allowed me to attend a friend's birthday party.
